Sandhill Crane on January 1, 2014, in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico.
The magnificent Sandhill Cranes overwinter in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. They are spectacular in flight, as well as impressive on the ground!
Happy New Year to readers here.
Fall was very busy with photography. In these winter months I’ll be catching up with new posts here.
We were out on the river 30 minutes before sunset for the first pink Sandias of 2014. The cranes had already flown in and were foraging on the opposite bank of the river, so I only got a few ducks and geese in flight yesterday.
When you get some time, hopefully we’ll get to go out shooting again. I have only seen one snow goose so far this year, and that means I really need to go to the Bosque del Apache (unless they move to another area before I get there!) You are so lucky to have the cranes so close to your home!
